Chawal ki roti(chilka roti)(Rice pan chapati)

Hi this is a very famous cuisine from Jharkhand, my native place. This roti is prepared by soaking the rice and chana dal for minimum 5 hours or overnight and then it is grinded into very fine paste to make the roti over tawa. This is well served along with mutton curry or chicken curry. People prepare it on some special ocassions. They call it the Chilka roti. A bowl of chana dal ki chutney along with this add's a lot to this recipe.
Here is the recipe, hope you like this roti recipe from jharkhand,India.

Chilka Roti, Chawal ki roti, Rice roti

Yields- 8 medium size roti
Preparation time- 2 minutes (Grinding)
Cooking time- 1and 1/2 minutes(each roti)

  • Salt for taste

  • Drain the water and then grind this into fine paste by adding little water.
  • Once you have grinded the rice and chana dal,add salt as per taste.
  • If you want thin roti's you can add little water to the paste.
  • Season with salt .
  • Now heat a non-stick tawa or pan at medium high heat.
  • grease it with oil.
  • Now take 2 tbsp of the rice paste and pour it over the pan. Spread the paste nicely over the pan and cover the pan. wait for 1/2 minute and then flip onto other side, cover and wait for another 20 seconds until some golden brown spots hits both the sides.
That is it. Your chilka roti is ready to be served. Serve it hot with any curry of your choice. It tastes best with chana dal ki chutney.

Enjoy and Happy cooking
