Stuffed Bittergourd(Karele ka bharwa)

As i told in my previous post i really like stuffed bittergourd. Here it is. This is the recipe of stuffed bitter gourd. It is boiled and then spiced which is later on stir fried. I know like me there are so many out there who love this stuffed bitter gourd. For all the bitter gourd fan's out there.

Yields- 4
Preparation time- 20 minutes(boiling and stuffing)
Cooking time- 10 to 15 minutes
Total time- 35 minutes
Level of difficulty- easy

Ingredients:

  • Bitter gourd or karela- 2 medium size, halved
  • Tomato- 1 ,chopped
  • Turmeric powder- 1Tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 Tbsp
  • Cumin powder- 1 Tsp
  • Aam chur powder- 1 tsp
  • Onion- 1 , chopped
  • Garlic- 3 cloved, chopped
  • oil for cooking
  • salt as per taste.
  • Chilly- as per taste(Optional)
Preparation:
  • Boil the bitter gourd by adding little salt in the water until the bitter gourd gets cooked. Such that if you put a fork or knife inside, it must go easily. Once done cool the karela's or bitter gourd. Scrap out the inner most part and keep it aside.
  • In a pan heat 2 Tbsp of oil, add the onion and garlic, saute until onion turns translucent.
  • Now add the tomato, salt ,the scraped bitter gourd and all other spices, fry until oil oozes out .
  • Turn off the heat once masala is ready. Now fill in the karela's with this masala.
  • Heat another 1 Tbsp of oil in a pan and fry this stuffed bitter gourd until the outside skin of bitter gourd looks golden brown.
  • Once done turn off the heat and serve.
Enjoy along with rice or chapati.

Happy Cooking :-)
